Everything That Burns

Remember everything that burns turns to ash. One day
desire consumes the soul, searing, sealing, dissolving
reason - its fire a heat in the mind, preying like acid
on flesh and bone – its path a ghoulish lace of sense, sensation.

Desire consumes the soul - searing, sealing, dissolving
self. Never satisfied, the hunger only growing as it feeds
on flesh and bone, its path a ghoulish lace of sense, sensation,
creating unholy, stiff hide from what was once innocent

self. Never satisfied, the hunger only growing as it feeds
the flames that blaze instigating immolation of reason,
creating unholy, stiff hide. From what was once innocent
there is afterward deceit hiding forbidden, selfish indulgence.

The flames that blaze, instigating immolation of reason
leaves us blind to the consequences of seeking the impossible.
There is afterward deceit - hiding forbidden, selfish indulgence
that let passions burn hot and white but

leaves us blind to the consequences of seeking the impossible
reason. Its fire a heat in the mind, preying like acid
that let passions burn hot and white but
remember everything that burns turns to ash one day.
