Six Walls Of Manipulation

Six Walls of Manipulation

1.

The delivery

ominous, shiny white

the shadow man

sitting

listening

always with you

haunting

listening – watching - following

delivering your box board by board

-it has been a long wearing summer

now it is the fall

silently assembled

the box has become a part of you

2.

wakening in a box

fists fighting - kicking and screaming

wounded and bruised

you exist

several years pass

and you exist

like pins and needles

your soul has fallen asleep

3.

I remember how beautiful it was

cold and silent

so many stars

an ungodly undulating alien rainbow

a veil of green

eerie

it really was the beginning of the end

remember that shooting star

the first night?

it was a part of the conspiracy - a wink from the cosmos

-at least that is my theory

That perfect day...

it was the beauty - you must understand - that I could not bear

no longer channel

saturating my psyche

too much for one moment

or two

a tsunami of sensitivity

a straight edged razor of soft waving green grass

so plentiful - and deadly

like the beautiful hurt of staring at the sun

looking for blinding answers

learning that if you watch it too closely

eventually

it no longer shows up with the dawn

5.

Crunching snow

dawn

ducking as I release the Four Geese of the Apocalypse

flying over my head happy
having just discovered their wings

my silly sentinels

misdirected instinct calling them

beckoning them

  s p l a s h

full speed landing in a plastic child's wading pool

Fingers numb having chipped away the ice,

coaxing the water through a partially frozen hose

it would probably be our last swim of the year

6.

Close your eyes Orpheus

stop measuring the dawn

ignore the skies

as big as the universe

cloudscapes; mountains of the almighty

blinding sundogs and SOHO

you cannot capture God on a digital camera

I really want to go home

~Eurydice
